The clinician will explain what to expect and may recommend a series of visits, reassessment, or coordination with medical care and physical therapy.
During an acupuncture visit
Your clinician reviews your concerns and relevant medical history before selecting treatment points. The needles remain in place for a limited period while you rest. Sensations vary, but many people report only mild pressure, tingling, or brief discomfort.
Safety and expectations
Tell the clinician about pregnancy, bleeding disorders, blood-thinning medications, implanted devices, skin infection, or serious medical conditions. Acupuncture should not delay evaluation of new or worsening symptoms. Response varies, and the clinician will reassess whether continued treatment is appropriate.
